Self Inquiry Group is a community of friends engaged in the search for Truth and Self-Realization.  As individuals, we pursue our personal paths with all the honesty and earnestness we can muster.  As a group, we hold satsang meetings, intensives and retreats with Bart Marshall and Deborah Westmoreland in Raleigh/Durham, NC, around the US, and starting in 2016, around the world (Spain).

Bart and Deborah teach a Way to Awakening that cuts through centuries of dogma, religion, and so-called spiritual knowledge by pointing directly at What Is, and working on a personal level with those who ask.

“Doubt everything you think you know and stop trying to understand.  Knowledge and the desire to understand is what  blocks your way.  Nothing you can know is true.  Nothing.  The path to Truth is subtractive.
Back away from untruth until your mind is on shaky ground.  Then, if you’re fortunate, Grace will take all the rest of it from you, leaving only profound Mystery and Unknowing.”
— Bart Marshall

Bart and Deborah understand well the arduous path of spiritual seeking, both having traversed long and winding roads to Truth, and they call upon their experiences to help others cut down the travel time between seeking and Becoming.

“The only
thing a teacher can give you is to illuminate that you are your own teacher, that you are the Satguru.  A teacher’s priority should always be for you to look at yourself, to let go of the egoic restraints, constrictions or structures that are preventing you from seeing what you truly are.  Every path is different.  You cannot do what another person does and find what you’re looking for.  If you are traveling your own path then suddenly start emulating someone else, you’ve lost your way. ”
— Deborah Westmoreland

During his 37 years of seeking and countless books and teachers, Bart cites as having the most influence: Richard Rose, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Douglas Harding, and the ancient masters of Zen and Advaita Vedanta.  Deborah’s path was equally eclectic, but with a distinct Buddhist and Zen Buddhist emphasis. Both also find deep profundity and Truth in the inner teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.

To get a sense of what Bart and Deborah talk about, you may want to listen to a few satsang audios.  If you would like to be notified of upcoming events with Bart and Deborah, please fill out the retreat registration form and in the comments field write, “Newsletter Only.”
